NO MORE ROAD RACES IN EEMSHAVEN AND TOLBERT

06.01.2009 19:59

So there will be also no more races in Eemshaven in the future, so the only pure roadraces left in the Netherlands are Hengelo and Oss at this moment.

What is the problem that this event is finished

Groningen Seaports, the owner of the place, have said racing is not possible anymore.
Vopak Oil EMA BV have plans to build a terminal at the place where the track is.
One part of the track, called the Middenweg, will being removed therefor.
Also the place where the paddock normally is situated will become fully rebuild for industrial use.
There are no alternative ways for continueing the event.
There were races from 1982 onwards.

Is Tolbert still running?
After the last races in 2004, roadwork prevented us from organising a race event in the following years. After lots of work and effort of local government, sponsors and volunteers the circuit was ready again at the end of last year with all sorts of changes for the better. Representatives of all roadrace classes where willing to race again in 2008. Unfortunately, the organisation only got permission to organize 125, 250, supermono and classics races in 2008. Activity and audience interest is very low for these classes in Holland and running an event without Superbike and Supersport is impossible without financial loss. Due to this outcome we have decided to stop, after almost 40 years of organising roadrace events.
We'd like to thank all Riders, Sponsors, Government, Audience and Officials for their help and support in all those years.
