Czech Road Racing Cup 2010

20.02.2010 13:31

In 2010 we organize the first official Czech Road Racing Cup. How did it start?

Last year were announced results of road racing championship after long twenty years. But the competition wasn´t organized by official authority - Autoklub Ceske republiky but also small group enthusiasts from Horice. Me and my brother came with idea to declare road racing champions after season 2009. It was during winter 2009. We got support of motorcycling clubs which organize road races in Czech republic specially by Horice Motorcycling Club.

The championship was declared for classes

  • SPORT 125 [sportproduction]
  • GP 125
  • GP 250
  • SUPERMONO
  • OPEN 600 [supersport & superstock]
  • OPEN 1000 [superbike & superstock]

I counted results from all six events which were included to historical the first real road racing championship. The championship was declared as international because many riders from abroad participate every year in races on our roads. So we could see riders from Czech republic, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Northern Ireland who collected their results and points to total standings in all classes.

The first event “Slovacky okruh” at Stare Mesto was organized for classes SPORT 125, GP 125, GP 250 and SUPERMONO.

Another races were in Horice. We could see all classes in traditional 300 Zatacek of Gustav Havel. That event was running like 47. edition.

Okruh Frantiska Bartose at Ostrava - Radvanice had on programme all classes exception class OPEN 1000.

Fourth continue of championship was at Opava. Riders raced in new event which calls Bezrucuv okruh. They raced in SPORT and GP 125 classes.

Zlaty kahanec at Terlicko were all classes. For riders in OPEN 1000 it was final race in season.

Last races were in Kyjov. Kyjovsky okruh welcomed riders of five classes.

Top event of championship was at Horice. There raced plenty of racers from all over Europe. Over 20,000 people could see fantastic fights between over 300 riders in six classes of championship and four classes of classics. It was only one event where we invited riders from Northern Ireland and France.

The second most successful event was Zlaty kahanec at Terlicko. This races were reopened in 2008 after eighteens years break. So in 2009 it was second year in its new history. Terlicky okruh is our fastest road racing circuit. Average speed is about 100 mph.

Final ceremonial of road racing championship was situated to Mecca of Czech road racing – to Horice. 10th October were awarded the best riders in championship.
