Pearson to the Fore

Michael Pearson had to settle for four runner up place finishes to inform Ryan Farquhar at the Ian Watson Spring Cup over the Oliver's Mount circuit in Scarborough on Sunday, with Pearson feeling relaxed at his good showing in the season opener.

Pearson who was riding the D&GW Racing BMW Superstock machine in earnest for the first time, and the Carryduff Forklifts Supersport 600 Kawasaki, had no answer to Farquhar who is notched up six race wins in the Ian Watson Spring Cup races, the Supersport 600, and Supertwins class's.

In the feature race of the day for the Ian Watson Spring Cup, Pearson finished second to Farquhar with fellow countryman Derek Shiels third, while in the Heat One of the Spring Cup, Pearson again had to follw Farquhar home in second place with Keith Pringle third.     In the two Supersport 600 races, it was a Kawasaki clean sweep with Farquhar on the KMR Kawasaki taking a brace of wins in front of Pearson (CF Kawasaki) and Ian Lougher (Kawasaki)

Michael Pearson:  "I am more than happy with how things have went this weekend, as we are still blowing of the winter cobwebs. I had a wee problem with the gearbox on the BMW, but nothing to serious, but I still managed to hang onto the back of Ryan in both those races.   The 600 races where tighter affairs and with it came another brace of second place finishes, with Kawasaki showing the rest the way home with two fine 1-2-3 results.     Next up for the Team is next weekends Enkalon Trophy Races at Bishopscourt, so hopefully will will continue in this rich vein".
