PEARSON IN RECORD BREAKING DOUBLE

THE BIKE INSURER BRITISH THUNDERSPORT GP1 CHAMPIONSHIP

ROUND THREE SNETTERTON

Lisburn's Michael Pearson on the NEI Motorsports ZX10 Kawasaki, made the most of his Bank Holiday trip to Snetterton  with a fantastic double victory in the third round of the British Thundersport GP1 Championship, and a New GP1 Class lap record for the Snetterton circuit.
In the three race programme, Pearson took the overall victory in races one and three and narrowly missed out on making it a hat trick of wins in race two, when the former Irish Superbike Champion was beaten by just 0.2 seconds.
Pearson's double victory launches the Co-Antrim rider into second place in the GP class in the Thundersport Championship, with Pearson now just 21pts behind series leader Phillip Crowe, who has taken part in all three rounds compared to Pearson's two rounds.
In race on Sunday, Pearson on the immaculately prepared NEI Motorsports ZX10 Superbike,  took the lead in the 14 lap race on lap 8 and remained there until the flag where he fended off Alex Heaton and Sed Bulpin with a 2.060 second advantage and the fastest lap of the race, at 1m11.084s, a speed of 100.478mph.
Race two on Monday produced the closest finish of the weekend with Michael Neeves on a BMW taking the win from Pearson with just 0.2 second splitting the pair as they flashed across the line at the end of 14 laps.
Pearson then took the meeting by the scruff of the neck in the third and final race on Monday when he set a New Class Lap record for the Thundersport GP Class on the Snetterton circuit on his way to a four second winning margin from Michael Reeves and Alex Heaton with Pearson making sure of his double victory with the fastest lap of the race and the New Class Record Lap at 1m11.008s a speed of 100.586mph.

Michael Pearson "things went really well this weekend only for a few wee issues with the quick shifter which we where able to make better for the final race today.   The NEI Motorsports ZX10 Kawasaki is working brilliantly and it never missed a beat the whole weekend.  The Pirelli tyres where fantastic and they worked extremely well on the big bike, which has given me loads of confidence.
Its a busy couple of weeks now as everything is getting packed up and ready to be shipped to the Czech Republic for the Horice Road Races, so to go there on the back of these results is just what the doctor ordered.  Im really enjoying this Championship and am looking forward to each and every round"
