Paerson before Killalane
Ballygowan rider Michael Pearson will be looking for more of the same this weekend when the curtain comes down on the 2010 Irish Road Race season at the Killalane Road Races near
Skerries in County Dublin.
A Grand Final win on the Carryduff Forklifts R1 Yamaha in 2009 put the icing on the Irish Road Race season for Pearson, with the now Kawasaki mounted rider hoping to repeat that
performance come Sunday.
Pearson will ride the Morrell Kawasaki Superstock machine in the Open and Grand Final at
Killalane, while his trusty Carryduff Forklifts ZX6 Kawasaki Supersport machine will get two
airings on Saturday and Sunday. Pearson who has not ridden since the Ulster Grand Prix
believes that the rest may have done him good, but even he knows that the opposition this time around will be alot stiffer than it was a year ago.
Michael Pearson: "It would be quite a story if I could win back to back Grand Finals at
Killalane, but I expect that a top three finish in the Supersport and Superbike class's would
really be quite an achievement for me. Last year at Killalane I took three third places and a
win, so it will take some doing to better that this time around. I have not been on the bikes
since the Ulster Grand Prix, and although the 600 was down on power, I think that it will be
good enough for the tight Killalane circuit. The Morrell Kawasaki has went well all year, only
for a wee niggley problem at the Ulster, but hopefully she will stand me in good stead come
Sunday. It would be nice to get a win in any of the class's but the likes of Ryan, William, and
Michael will be on the button this weekend, so they will be the men to beat. I will be taking
in the Gold Cup at Scarborough the week after Killalane which for me will be my last race of the
season. Its highly unlikely that I will do the Sunflower Trophy Races as the money is just not
there to do it, so it will be a case of getting the next two weekends out of the way, and start
planning for 2011 in ernest. I have no idea as to what we will be doing or riding in 2011 as of
yet, but one way or the other, I will be back on the roads next year".
